Melting Pot

Travelling all last week and missed a few things but they all seem to fuel the fire of America's pussification. Seems everyone walks around in a psylocybin haze of denial.

O'Reilly is on the View. Okay, I don't really care for him and I know he is there because he is a self aggrandizing, narcissitic asshat. He is there because its like an advertising opportuninty for O'Reilly Inc. I get it.

The Yenta's are yapping away getting Bill O'riled up when..

O'Reilly- "Muslims killed us on 09/11" Not all that profound of an observation I must say.

Well, all hell breaks loose and Whoopi and Joy Behar walk off the show.

Now, last I checked, those that attacked us were Muslims. The argument, before those big mouth broads walked off..."You can't blame all Muslims, these were extremists".

Really? We managed to call the Japs.."Japs" after Pearl harbor and we associated it with all, well "Japs." Even managed to take the ones here and put them in internment camps.

We associated WWII Europe with Germany and we called them many things, "Krauts," "Nazi's" etc. And yes, we did not discriminate. Extremist, or not if you are my enemy..you are my enemy. The left loves to defend this stance, about how it was a certain group and not the entire race but they never really seem to care about Islam and their stance on women and gays, always baffles me.

Dumb cows, I loved it that Barbara called you two out after the show. Regardless of Barbra's beliefs she is a journalistic professional who realizes that you don't walk off your own show.

What was even better was that Bill Maher was even perplexed by what was wrong with the statement. Methinks Bill is a getting bitter about this entire "Hope and Change" debacle that he championed.

THEN..Juan Williams gets canned. I thought the top of my head was going to come off. I'm still, really, really missing what got this man fired?

Should a pack of individuals wearing, lets say..Tony Lama Ostrich skin boots, kill almost 2 thousand people in my neighborhood while driving a dually pick up, should I see another group of Tony Lama Ostrich Skin boot wearing, dually driving individuals, I might get a bit nervous.

Funny, talking to a Delta Senior Pilot, planes get rerouted / broken down all the time, why ,"Islamic Profiling". That's right, if someone gets nervous about Islamic looking individuals in traditional garb or not, acting suspicious and it gets reported, guess what. That plane has mechanical difficulty and those individuals get re-routed on separate planes, happens every day. And poor Juan got fired for voicing this?

And then there is recent case against Linda Moon which I discovered while cruising the blogosphere. Seems Ms. Moon is a former Marine Corps officer during the Viet Nam era and a prominent writer of military science fiction. Which to say, makes her a pioneer in many areas.

Apparently, she was selected to be THE guest of honor at something called WisCon, which claims to be the leading feminist science fiction convention. Well seems she posted some things on her blog that upset this convention as their "may be some Muslims in attendance".

Here is a portion of what she wrote on her blog on the anniversary of 09/11:

Which brings me, on this particular day, to the aftermaths of 9/11. And, in line with that, the vexed question of the Islamic memorial site and the responsibilities of immigrant citizens in general.

Typical blog type stuff so far, it's a reflection and its tied into the current controversy and she has some thoughts on it. No biggie.

The point here is that in order to accept large numbers of immigrants, and maintain any social cohesion, acceptance by the receiving population is not the only requirement: immigrants must be willing and able to change, to merge with the receiving population. The new place isn't the old place; the new customs aren't the old customs. "Acceptance" is a multi-directional communications grid. Groups that self-isolate, that determinedly distinguish themselves by location, by language, by dress, will not be accepted as readily as those that plunge into the mainstream. This is not just an American problem--this is human nature, the tribalism that underlies all societies and must be constantly curtailed if larger groups are to co-exist. It is natural to want to be around those who talk like you, eat the familiar foods, wear the familiar clothes, have the familiar cultural references. But in a multicultural society like ours--and it has been multi-cultural from its inception--citizens need to go beyond nature. That includes those who by their history find it least comfortable.

The woman is far more intelligent than I and IMHO, pretty much explains to me how how things should work or be working if your immigrating somewhere. All makes sense to me.

There are a few more paragraphs inserted and then apparently her personal feelings which caused her to be Persona non grate at this event.

I can easily imagine how Muslims would react to my excusing the Crusades on the basis of Islamic aggression from 600 to 1000 C.E....(for instance, excusing the building of a church on the site of a mosque in Cordoba after the Reconquista by reminding them of the mosque built on the site of an important early Christian church in Antioch.) So I don't give that lecture to the innocent Muslims I come in contact with. I would appreciate the same courtesy in return (and don't get it.) The same with other points of Islam that I find appalling (especially as a free woman) and totally against those basic principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution...I feel that I personally (and many others) lean over backwards to put up with these things, to let Muslims believe stuff that unfits them for citizenship, on the grounds of their personal freedom. It would be helpful to have them understand what they're demanding of me and others--how much more they're asking than giving. It would be helpful for them to show more understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship in a non-Muslim country. (And the same is true for many others, of course. Libertarians, survivalists, Tea-Partyers, fundamentalist Christians, anyone else whose goals benefit only their own group. There's been a huge decline in the understanding of good citizenship overall.)

A statement of facts about how we continue to bend over backwards to accommodate all immigrants and allow them to practice whatever religious freedoms they have and bring with them. HOWEVER, they have ZERO tolerance for us.

She ends with this:

But I don't expect this to happen. And on this anniversary of 9/11, all I can do is hope that no bombs are thrown, no Korans burned, no innocents killed... by anyone.

So a female who is a pioneer in her field is BANNED from "the Worlds leading Feminist Science Fiction event" for speaking her mind? Oh the irony. I wonder if those that banned her realize that the group she was worried about offending, the ones that attacked us handles their “feminist” issues this way.

Taliban

While I don't agree with everything she says, I think she says it quite well and backs quite a bit of what she says up with facts.

I would encourage you to read the entire post here and form your own opinions and if your into science fiction, perhaps go purchase one of her books.

The pussification continues, don't speak your mind, you might offend someone. Oh and no dodge ball either, its too violent.

Just to get you back in the right frame of mind, I leave you a non political correct band doing  a great remake of “Bad Company”. The original was a song I listened to before we deployed.  I love the female crowd surfing with her 92f 9mm strapped to her hip.  Enjoy!

Elizabeth Moon is not banned from Wiscon. She's just not going to be the Guest of Honor. Refraining from giving an award is not the same as censorship.
