Current Events

A good read here but not something it takes 10 years of war. There will always be a divide between those who serve and those who did not.

And not just soldiers but teachers, coaches, law enforcement officers at any level. We tend to socialize with people of similar back grounds.

I can't tell you how many people I've met in the civilian world that somewhere in the middle of the conversation,I'm thinking "not only do I not give a fuck about what your saying, I don't really like you."

A Harder Army a More Distant America

"The U.S. Army now begins its 10th continuous year in combat, the first time in its history the United States has excused the vast majority of its citizens from service and engaged in a major, decade-long conflict instead with an Army manned entirely by professional warriors.

This is an Army that, under the pressure of combat, has turned inward, leaving civilian America behind, reduced to the role of a well-wishing but impatient spectator. A decade of fighting has hardened soldiers in ways that civilians can't share. America respects its warriors, but from a distance."

The rest of the article can be read here.

I also think if I was the Captain whose wife asked me to not talk about the war, she'd soon be single.

Wonder why I'm not surprised to find this. Appears the messiah is good at oration and not much else, apparently he is in over his head as the POTUS.

"A longtime Washington D.C. insider, and former advisor to the Obama election campaign and transition team, speaks out on an administration in crisis, and a president increasingly withdrawn from the job of President."

Read the rest here.

Finally, here is where some of our "Stimulus" dollars are going.

You can't make this shit up, proving again, truth is stranger than fiction.

Feds Spent $800,000 of Economic Stimulus on African Genital-Washing Program

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), spent $823,200 of economic stimulus funds in 2009 on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex.

Dollars in action here.

I guess I'm not real sure how this stimulates anything other than the African washing, assuming he gets to wash it as long and as fast as he needs to.
