For something totally different

The Greatest BBQ Story Ever Told.

http://www.texasmonthly.com/2012-02-01/webextra6.php

What an awesome read, especially since I love to Que and cook in about 1 competition per month.

I'm glad that Franklin is having some success but I prefer the tortured soul that is John Mueller who can be the protagonist in this story.  Even from a far off photo that provides the magazine cover, you can see in the eyes of John Mueller a man who has travelled a different path than Aaron Franklin.

Though in its purest form, the tragedy plays out in a fall from good to bad, not as Mueller is trying to reverse here, the story is still being written.
Mueller and those around him can't explain why he left the family business or what caused the internal strife that led to divorces, failed business and "getting on the Whiskey".

Reminds me of the quote from ol' One Stab while describing Tristan in Legends of the Fall:

"I think it was the bear, growling inside him. Making him do bad things. Nothing that Tristan did was truly his own fault. It was the bear."

I think we all have a Bear that growls inside of us, that comes around at different times, pulling us not always in bad ways, but certainly that growls loud enough to make us consider the path we travel down.
The bear growled and Mueller listened for awhile but seems to have slain or at least quited the bear....for now.

Weird, I just took a damn Texas Monthly BBQ Article and went some bizarre directions with it...

Jurena....Out
