Unstoppable

Well, I guess I'm not surprised. We televise everything else, why not this. My guess is, knowing some of the Alpha Males involved and the egos associated, a 1 in 12 shot at 100k will get some attention.

Some info from the press release:

The series will be filmed at state-of-the-art military facilities around the U.S. under the supervision of local evaluators and a handpicked team of top tier combat operators. The challenges are modeled on real world combat scenarios that will test everything from urban combat to evasion, from search-and-destroy to reconnaissance, and will include threat evaluation and threat elimination. Each location includes special terrain along with a unique set of combat challenges that the contestants must overcome.

“It’s not enough for them to be fit and strong and great with weapons,” said GRB CEO Gary R. Benz. “We’re going to test every combat skill and tactical response in the book. Then, we’re going to throw away the book and find out what they learned on the battlefield.”

Regardless of what they put on this show, it won't replicated what real life is like for the warrior. It won't replicate the short time between deployments where perhaps the mini van needs new tires or little johnny is raising hell in class as his male role model is never home. Or, perhaps momma is sick and tired of him being gone all the time and they spend the time between deployments arguing.

Or, perhaps he just had to see the top of one of his buddies head come off because the IED was now located in the wall.

You see you can replicate with challenges both physical and mental but they don't take in all the other factors that take place before, during or after a real world mission.

Summer of 2011 they say. Lets hope if does better than Sarah Palin's reality show...
