Catching Up

So, it's been awhile and previously I was just taking a journey down memory lane. Lets see if we can catch up on some things.

Traveled alot, nothing new there.

Many towns, planes and rental cars
fast food and airport bars

the towns, the climates change
there seem to be 1000 stories
the faces however, seem to be the same

The company is growing like wild fire as 2009 was a bit of "growth" year for personnel. I continue to push each day to ensure that the Rangers we have hired are successful. It's not easy as this is quite entreprenureal, but if we can't be successful who can?

Intelligence and me...

I don't consider myself smart, well read or anything you would associate with being "smart". As I travel this world, if I dont' give myself credit, than I have to assume there are some stupid people out there.

I sit in halls of Academia, I talk to generals and elected officials, I sit in the smallest beer joints and there are times in both locations, I find myself surrounded by people that I'm convinced I know not just a little bit more than but encyclopedia britannica volumes more than. Not quantum physics or chemistry or any of that shit, but just over all situational awareness. Politics not included, just LIFE.

I seem to be able to at least chime in with somewhat intelligent responses or input while at times I watch others sit mutely by or have nothing releveant to add to the topic.

I'll have to thank the good lord for this as I was certainly an under achiever in school. C's and B's I could make without cracking a book, so that was the path of least resistance, I took it. Outside the physical piece, the military was predominately rote memorization. Nomenclature and specifics on weapons with regards to weight, range, ammo capacity etc. All stuff that I could memorize overnight.

Some have heard me say this before though, we as enlisted, Infantry / Rangers get pigeonholed as gung ho, snake eaters with little intelligence. I have said, that there was a night where I came to a revelation as I was almost at sensory overload, I was moving to an objective, manuvering two fire times, utilzing night observation devices, looking at a compass and 1:50,000 map, while calling for fire on the radio..

Holy shit, there was a lot going on and we did it day after day, night after night, screw up and you can get some one killed. So perhaps, we are all smarter than we think?

Speaking of all that, the older I get the more I miss it. Just have me coming in low, flying Nap of the Earth, hanging out the door of that Black Hawk one more time...holy shit talk about a rush. You've been ThunderStruck!

I really want this country to realize, this Crusade we are on, is not going away. They will not let it go away. So, we must prepare to be in it to win it. The majority of our citizens have forgotten that day when over 3000 innocent people where killed. And for what? Because the world is jealous of the country we have become. In our short, less than 300 years / existience we have done more, created more, accomplished more and helped more than any country in the history of this place we call earth. While we are certainly materialistic, we don't live in mud huts and deny education to the mothers of our children or our children. The world does not want to BE the US, they want to BEAT the US. Some,economically, some literally, physically.

Being nice to these "folks" does not make them go away. Trying to understand their religon, is fkking retarded. Read the Koran, go ahead. Let me know how far you think this relationship is going to go. A religion or society that places no value on human life, can not be reasoned with. Oh, by the way, history repeats itself and this is not the first time Islam has tried to rule the world.

And the scariest part is while we become more of a melting pot and embracing Islam and becoming more Islamic, the Islamic world is becoming more Islamic. Think about that one for a second.. Globalization is not embraced by the Islamic world.

Looks like we will be headed to Africa soon, should be a good mission. Looking forward to a different AO and working with one of my team leaders again. He worked on the diplomatic side for awhile and now has his own gig and helped stand up a country over there.

I had considered commenting on some things going on that POTUS has to be read in on that are good, but I've decided, there is no way he knows what is really going on, just no way. One of my peers suggested today that the 30k additional troops was just a ploy to pass health care. Not sure if thats accurate but I suppose in this day and age anything is possible.

Not too much excitement today, just some ramblings as always,I'll try to post more often.
