So I've been remiss to post as much has changed and continues to evolve almost daily.
Seems that my impatience once again got the better of me. After submitting my paperwork to both Triple C and Agua Negro, it seemed an eternity before anyone ever responded with any information. So while waiting the opportunity to relocate arose with possible promotion potential within my current employer. It seemed that after a 10 year break in service perhaps I was not the type of guy these companies were looking for and I should continue down this path. After all, I've worked hard to establish myself within the company, I'm pretty well respected within the company and the industry and its the safe move. So, I accepted a relocation package to Phoenix. Yes, that's right another move. So lets recap the Jurena Family travels:
Houston, Tx
Savannah, Ga
Ft. Walton Beach, Fl.
Fayetteville, NC.
Houston, Texas
Boise, Idaho
Dallas, Texas
Phoenix,AZ
All within the last 20 years, which equates to a move every 2-3 years!
Well, just after taking the relocation package, Triple C calls and wants me to take a static position working with some Ugandans. Not exactly what I had in mind, so I said no. Many in the industry would say that I was crazy for not taking it but my situation is a bit different, with my current employment, I'll continue to try and get the position I'm looking for or I'll just keeping doing what I'm doing.
Several weeks later, a recruiter for Blackwater called and said that after the first of 2008 he would be able to get me into the WPPS program and perhaps onto the Select program. Well here we are and to date, still no Dept. of State approval. So until I hear that the DOS has accepted me, I'll not get any hopes up.
James is working for DynCorp now so perhaps he will be able to get me hooked up. Of course during the move / holidays, I gained 10 lbs back that I had lost and I have had no range time with the Glock at all.
Who knows, maybe its a pipe dream that will never come to fruition? What I know is the current profession offers 0 job satisfaction other than the financial pay out. Which is funny, back when I was in the Army I never would have dreamed I would be making this much and would have jumped at the chance to leave all that behind and make these kind of dollars. In fact, I did leave the Army behind but had NO real job to speak of. So, I'm not so sure why I'm the least bit concerned about leaving this gig, except....jobs paying this much with these benefits are hard to come by.
Strange dichotmy I find myself in.
Anyway, I'll try and post more as 2008 evolves.
